Initiators

The dramatool project was initiated by the Eastern African Theatre Institute (EATI) and the Swedish National Organisation for Authorized Drama Pedagogues (RAD). The groundwork started after the project got interest from and an agreement reached between the two project partners.

The member countries in EATI are: Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. Each country is called a "Chapter". Subsequently, each Chapter employs two co-coordinators for the project. Other countries in East Africa are expected to join the organisation.

A basic needs assessment was undertaken in 2002-2003. The major objective was to find out the practitioners' need regarding the content on a website and possibilities in accessing computers and the Internet.
