Since 2000 Sida, The Swedish International Development Agency, has been dramatool's sole sponsor through The Department for Democracy and Social Development. The dramatool project welcomes cooperation from related projects, institutions, organizations etc as supplementary sponsors.

The Swedish International Development Agency Sida has an extensive partnership with governments, international organizations, non-governmental organizations, institutions, companies and universities. Through this partnership Sida seeks, through long-term development cooperation, to create favorable conditions for democratic development as well as sustainable social and cultural development through skills training, reduction in illiteracy and poverty alleviation.

Department for Democracy and Social Development

The department has two main areas of responsibility: democratic governance, including human rights, and social sectors, including education, health care, culture and media. These responsibilities also entail coordinating Sidas collaboration with several UN agencies. In these areas, the department develops methods and policies and prepares Sida support for activities. The department is also responsible for coordinating Sidas work with hiv/aids.
