The play explored tensions associated with choices, chances and changes in relation to power, denial, and stigma associated with HIV/Aids. |

The Rural Woman17 April 2008There are many groups formed in rural villages that are trying various activities. These groups should be trained in community theatre skills in order to carry out programs aimed at empowering women and equipping them with entrepreneurship skills. These programs should give the women the confidence they need to face their challenges. Atuki Turner, in the New Vision of 26-03-2008 says, ‘Women should make every day a Women’s Day by fighting for their rights and fighting violence. They should know they have the right to refuse their daughter to be taken out of school or married off early. That they have the right to refuse to be inherited by their husband’s brother and that they have the right to look after their children, property and land.’ |
