The 2009 IDEA General Council Meeting (GCM) was hosted by Rostock University between May 5-7 with members participating from twenty three countries, accepting and welcoming new members from South Africa, Uganda and Taiwan and electing Dr Mercy Mirembe Ntagaare (Uganda) as the new Executive Committee (EC) Vice President, Betsi Pendry (South Africa) as the new EC Secretary, and Vincensia Shule (Tanzania) as the new General Meeting Committee (GMC) Vice President.
